"The Vintage Garden Show" at Renninger's

Neat Victorian wicker conservatory/library table at Chici's Cottage Style space

The Vintage Garden Show at Renninger's Antiques Center in Mt. Dora, FL, was a big success this past weekend. The weather was fantastic (albeit a bit warm), but it was received well and the consensus is that there will be a "fall" garden show as well, possibly in October. Any dealers who were on the fence should inquire and sign up for that one; I think it will be a dandy! Also, I'm hoping that many of us convinced the show organizers to make it a 2-day event. As long as we've gone to all the trouble of setting up, it would be wonderful if we had two full days to sell. The show also brought many customers to the inside vendors and the Street of Shoppes, so it benefited everyone!

The vendors had a wonderful mix of plants, antiques and vintage furniture and collectibles

Sold my two pillars!

Lots of wicker and iron furniture in many booths

Sold my cute little spinning wheel planter!

The garden show was conducted with vendors in the north pavillion as well as a row of tents in the adjoining grassy field...it was a great setting!

There were vendors with landscape plants as well as herbs and ornamentals.

This vendor had water lilies and koi fish

A very cute setup

more vintage wicker in my booth

My "Scare Crone" that greeted my visitors.

Slip Curtain

I have made several of these cute little curtains and this is the latest. I can't take credit for the idea, but take credit for the sewing for my friend Debbie, who sells them in her shop. She uses one as the curtain for her dressing room and everyone wants to buy it, so I've been enlisted to fill the need for duplicates. The base is just an off-white sheer drapery panel. This particular one used two vintage slips, each one cut in half. I modified the back panels of each slip with extra lace to make each one have a bodice.

One slip was white silk and the other was pink acetate.

I added a few embellishments here and there. Using some of the spaghetti straps from the white slip, I made two bows and the little mini flowers are bits of cotton fabric ruffled into roses with bits of lace tucked into the center.

To finish it off, I added several rows of ruffles at the bottom, some from the leftover sheer and some from some lace fabric I had on hand.

For a bit of interest, I ruched the bottom of one of the pink ones and added a flower.

I added loop hangers across the top behind each one of the slip straps.

Very simple and very feminine. Two others that I made are being used in a photo studio...I'm dying to know where this one will hang!

"Vintage Garden Show"

As a self-employed gypsy, I find, refurbish and resell antiques, collectibles, junk, clothing...quite frankly, anything that will turn a buck! I have several "mini-shoppes" located at various venues and occasionally do a few shows. Next Saturday, June 30th, I will be participating in the "Vintage Garden Show" at Renninger's Antique's Center in Mt. Dora, Florida. They are hoping to make this a yearly event. The first one, a couple of years ago in which I participated, was a huge success. Lots of chippie, rusty, crusty garden inspired decor, furniture and paraphernalia in addition to live plants and flowers. Free admission! Saturday, 6/30/12, 9:00am-4:00pm. Ya'll come!!
These are a few of the things that will accompany me.
Cute little child's pink wicker chair with lace seat cushion and toile pillow.

Vintage appliqued butterfly quilt square feather pillow

More wicker, pillar plant stand, wire plant stands, wooden totes.

Getting started!

Well...here goes nothin'! My very first post on my very first blog. Still plan on tweeking things a bit with some embellishments, but, 1st things 1st...let's get this thing rollin'!! I have not yet organized my thoughts about what exactly I want to share. Just starting with some pretty flower photos that happened around the yard.
